11.09.2009 - Black Tower

Good evening boys and girls. Singing sessions are over for this day. My neighbours thank me... I'm sure they think someone is killing a pig when I take high notes. You should see their faces... But the new songs are "diamond" I think. Absolutely the best shit we've ever made. I'm satisfied. Anyway, JV is in LOndon right now, watching Tori Amos and having few beers. Hell O! Little bit home made sushi, long drinks and sauna, I have to say IT WORKS. Okey, we recorded some vocals for few new songs on Thursday. I have to say - the songs sound really good now but they gonna be awesome after mixing. We are just demoting new stuff... So I HOPE we can enter the studio end of this year or the beginning of the next year. Would be great to hit the road next summer. That is our goal. Anyway - Before that, there is so much to do. I think we are wiser about the things this fall. Song writing continues next week. Cheers,

07.08.2009 - Ughhhhhhhh!

Now we're getting somewhere. Recorded some vocals yesterday on three songs. I'll record the rest of the stuff this weekend. Then we can move forward. Basic stuff it is. This way of demoing together is really good! It's easier and ofcourse faster to advice each other or try different approaches for different parts. I said "advice each other" but I meant telling that you suck and should do it better or something like that...! Anyways the end result is what matters. I don't know how much more time this writing will take but going in the right direction.. strong! Don't worry, no more breaks anymore.. just hard "work". Aaah, weekend is ahead and "vacation" gig with Antony and the gang.

Hi!

Long time AGAIN since the last post. Well well what have we been up to.. writing music yes! Altough it may seem that nothing happens but we ARE active! Jarno, Antony and I have had sessions where we write, test and record our ideas. I don't want to say we have been tooo active in these past months but now when summer is here we have found the right gear to get our inspiration flowing! Actually in a way this small "break" have been a good thing. It has given some time to think issues through and given us some energy needed to get this shit going on full speed! Hell yeah I say!! At the moment we have three songs under work that we are going to record next. So we see what kind of sound we have now.. Strong melodies are coming!

I'm waiting a miracle to get my laptot fully working with Pro Tools. Actually it works allmost fine but with this Vista -thing it just doesn't work smoothly.. Well I have another computer where it works smoothly but I would need another one for the rehearsal place... Speaking of, we have again a new place to rehearse. I have no idea where is it although our gear should be there already. But let's see what kind of place it is when we start to rehearse these new tunes. Little more writing and recording first!

21.05.2009 - I Burn my Devils

Sauna and few loooooooong drinks but this is a very bad long drink - the last one. God damn... But hey, it's alcohol, thank god... Or someone else. Actually this smells like gas... But still ---> alcohooool. Anyway, I'm going to Helsinki next Monday, to a TV station to sing some classic heavy rock songs. It's a brand new music program called "Haaveiden Ilta- Night of dreams" or something like that. Sounds very dangerous... But I think we will have fun anyway. I'm little bit nervous about it 'cos I will sing the first time on TV program. We made one playback mess with MM few years ago but it was little bit.....hmmmm....strange. Like swimming in booooze. So, we'll seee- I'll let you know more about the program soon. 3 times HOORAY for sauna !!! Cheers,

04.05.2009 - I break the silence

Well, it's been almost 3 months since we wrote this diary last time. Anyway, we've had a little break for song writing. We will get a new rehearsal room soon also. The latest one will be under the hammer some day- I think. So we have to decorate the new one before we can rehearse there. But anyway, sorry about this silence. We will update this diary always when we'll have something to tell you. Many things behind the band will change and this whole thing takes time and we don't want to rush with this. We've made lot of bad choices in the past and we've had so much bad luck so we don't need that bullshit anymore. But hey, thumbs up, boys and girls! Cheers,

17.02.2009 - "Stand up, Jesus!"

Very good late evening to all! How are things going? Diary have been quiet lately. More pics and stuff are coming later, don´t worry. Oh yes!! I promised to you to tell about my theater directing project later and soon it is late, even too late to tell you about it. Now I will.. Firstable it has took very much time and energy, at least last few weeks. We had rehearsals almost every day, coz it have to get ready for the opening night and we got it! We have 10 shows in our small theater what is called "Miilu" here in Jyväskylä. Actually 5 of them has already done so 5 more left. You still got time to come and see "Stand up, Jesus!". Name could say it is like stand up comedy what have something to do with Jesus, but no, it is real theater play but yes, it is a story of a guy named Jesus, who was believed to do some miracles from people all over the world. In this play he is not sure about himself and neither are his disciples and mom Virgin Mary doesn't like that her son have a short hair, like some Roman man-model.. Jesus screwed Judas Iscariot, coz Judas thought he would get "Keys of a Heaven", not Simon Keefas, so he betrayed him, and of course they were drunk when the betraying was happening.. Also Virgin Mary and Joseph wanted to make money on Jesus so they try to make him more commercially.. Stuff like this...

But now it is time to take my sleeping medicine and it seems there is Bruce Willis in the booklets on this medicine DVD. We have band rehearsals on Saturday. Couple of beers, few energy drinks and some brilliant riffs... But more about band stuff soon. Hang on! Have a nice end of winter you all Metal Bangers!!

09.01.2009 - New year - new plans - new shit

So it's a new year again... The reason why we have not update the website for a while is that some things are open behind the band. There will be big changes and stuff like that so we will let you know when the things are clear for us too. But we are writining new songs for the next album and yes, Machine Men is still alive ofcourse. So don't worry - we will be louder than ever before. I think the next gigs will be the next summer or at the fall. But the truth is - these few years have been like banging head against the wall and I really hate the feeling but playing in a band is like that sometimes. So I think it's time to choose a different track and work harder. But this track today is leading me into my own Sauna with few ice cold Loooooooongdrinks. Peace for my mind. Cheers,

It took almost 11 hours to drive from Levi to Jyväskylä. What a hell of a trip and I have terrible flu. We have acoustic gig next friday so I really hope this disease will be gone before that. So this year is ending... Christmas tour is over and the new year is ahead. It's fucking terrifying to see that there is no touring schedule yet. Or anything else except song writing and rehearsing. I really hope year 2009 will be a good year for MM. This year is already in toilet and what is left - empty bottles and lot of swear words. But anyway - happy new year to all. Cheers,

24.12.2008 Christmas Eve

24.12.2008 Christmas is here and families meets and hurry is behind. There is great dinner with ham and turkey, maybe also salmon and carrot casserole with potato soufflé. Children are waiting Santa Claus who comes to share the gifts and makes everyone happy. Christmas tree is shining and peaceful christmas songs are making a great background to all this. Some families will also visit their grand parents to give a smile from their old faces...

You spend ur xmas with ur mom coz ur parents has divorced long time ago and also u can´t visit ur grand parents coz the last grand parent died 15 years ago. At the evening u´ll give her ur only present what u have bought at this year, Classical music record and got back Mickey Mouse long sleeve underwear without gift wrap and box of chocolate. After that u´ll eat the dinner with ur mom before u go to play ur old computer and only game Jagged Alliance 2 at the rest of the night with ur chocolate box and can of dr. Pepper while u are listening Metallica, Kill ´em All album!

23.12.2008 - Jingle Hell - Jingle Hell

Tomorrow is the day that people have waited for - except me. All people run like headless chicken and then when the day arrives feels like whole world stops. I like the food and the feeling of christmas but why always this rush? I hate it. Thank god, or satan - I have one week "holiday" from my day job, but I spend most of the time on the road. So the whole christmas will be drinking drinking and drinking. And J-V will join us the Lapland tour - so it'll be more drinking and more drinking....... I just can't look at myself at the mirror after that. Sounds like typical holiday of Finnish people. Please, put me out of my misery.

Good evening to all! This is Eero and ”Long Lost Diary”! It has been several weeks from last time I wrote here. It´s not about I won lottery coz like I said I would buy a hockey sticks to canadians, not moving to Teneriffe or Jamaica to smoking gigars and playing bingo. But I won some from poker and then I lost some and then I won and then I lost and lost again. After my last lost I lost my nerv and delete that poker site from my computer and start to find a new one. I tried 5 of them and got one what was working (or they got hard technical systems so I got bored)... It was even worse than that site before this one. I lost less than 1000€ (could lost more) and I change back to my old one, coz it was better and simplier (for stupid bass player). But no!! It wasn´t work anymore!! I was like -”Whaat!” But no!! I think those italians who robbed me on their Luck did some sabotage to my computer! Well it is luck if I lose first a hand where I got 95% change to win and right after that I lose a hand with 97%! Yep! And these were only Two hands on that day!!! So so much how I love italians someone have to make them stop their playing on international sites! It´s awful and make normal finnish guy feel sick and put him edge of the madness. But on that night I escape from drama and got walk around the city and soon I found myself at the harbour throwing rocks to the lake and smoking lots of gigarettes! Now I´m figuring out should I stop playing and start to collect empty bottles to recycling... who knows..

But anyhow, I´m not in a bankrupt, as I say i won something before that day... And yes! The Band! Antony have been singing these xmas shit so we have had less rehearsals lately. Actually my theater project had taken some time also. Tomorrow is the last rehearsals at this year and then xmas holidays on some actors, so 3 to 4 weeks break! After this break we got only 3 weeks for opening night! This directing have been great thing for me and I got great group there. Some problems with some roles but we can solve those. Couple more pieces of metal songs to go before we got whole set to the album. Jarno said he have plenty of riffs and melodies so we can make like 662 songs to our new record. ...The greatest place on earth. My sanctuary... Tomorrow is time to hit the road again. Two Christmas gigs - in Mikkeli and Helsinki. Helsinki's gig is already sold out, full Tavastia club - I just can't wait. It's the highlight of this tour. Last year and year before the club have been sold out so this is third time. 25th of this month is time to conquer Lapland, don't worry we won't burn it. 3rd of January we have an acoustic gig and then I will take a backpack and disappear. Or I'm dreaming about it... Any ideas where to go?

Long time since last entry. Lot has happeneded and nothing... I mean we have gone forward with the songs but the pattern stays same: paly, play, test some shit etc. That's why I haven't got any new things to say... Basic shit. Today we are going to do IT again. Great. Last weekend was great. I was wathching Antonys singing in local nightclub. What a place that was... a real labyrint. Anyway, we had great time. I punched my head to Eero's nose there... must have hurted.. at least it looked that way! Hahaa. Sorry! But still I haven't got any special things to say this time. Few pics from weekend's mayhem.

14.12.2008 - Christmas time in Hell

Sunday - Back home from the road. God damn I'm tired. We had 3 fantastic gigs this week with this Christmas band. Last night we played in Eura - small town near by Turku. We started to play 1:00am - the gig was over 2:30am and we had to drove to Helsinki at the night so we were there round about 7am. I slept few hours in a hotel and I took the train back home. And tomorrow morning -> fucking day job. Where is my holiday when I need it... Anyway, after Christmas we have few gigs in Lapland - in those ski resorts (vittu hiihtokansaa). I won't rent any ski clothes or anything else concerning skiing. I don't wan't to walk like Robocop. I'll spend whole time in a hot tub with drinks and I won't move until the gig intro is on because I've deserved that - and oh yes, I'm sure about it.

Antony went to have fun and sing some christmas tunes so we decided that rest of us should do something useful and serious thing... We went to our cave and started to play. It was nice AGAIN but someway it was frustrating cause now we couldn't play new things so much.. It need vocals on rehearsals so you know what works best. Jarno had one new song, actually bit older one but new for me. Little slower at the beginning and going faster later on.. and a hint of doomish notes here and there. The first impression was really good. Really great feeling on that song. So we jammed that and some other stuff for the whole night. And this time we did something different too! All of us were sober and fresh so it was nice time to clean our hole... Actually we TRIED to clean it but trhere were so much all kind of shit on the floor that it's impossible to clean it up without proper equipment. Well, we collected all the garbage and bottles away though. It's littel bit better now. Next time monday... Maybe then we should bring some cleaning equipment. I don't want to complain about the mess too much and normally I don't care if it is little bit messy but our place is really shitty. Few pics from yesterday. Notice the yellow water...! Refreshing! Allrrright!
A blizzard hit yesterday. I was driving home from Suolahti yesterday evening and I had to drive 50 - 60 km almost the whole trip. It was so windy and snow came down like hell... Now I really wish that summer would come! But in other way this gives me good inspiration.. I just have to be inside and play guitar. Again we had long reh last friday... Hopefully it isn't boring that I tell allways similiar things here...? Anyway we have now 5 songs that are 90% ready. That's why 90% cause even they feel 100% ready now you never know what will happen them later on. It's just great to see that some minor chances here and there and you actually have a better song. So little chances might chance a lot! But we'll see where we go with that. We had so great time at rehearsals. Sometime at night, 1 am or something I noticed that Jarno is gone... I thought he went for a cig or toilet etc... But no, he just escaped to sleep at his home! Buahaa. Few bottles of El Tiempo would be the reason for that. Later on we found him at the locar bar refreshed again. So when Jarno went home we played few hours just four of us and chanced the drummer just for fun... Actually it was a good thing cause we concentrated more how to play these songs not just testing is this part working and this... You know what I mean. After reh Eero, Antony and I drove back to Jyväskylä. I went to sleep sometime at 5am. A great rehearsals and we a got lot of new shit ready this time.

Hello!
Weekend behind and cold monday begins. It's quite freezing weather... I noticed that roads are cover with black ice now so have to remember to drive slower. It doesn't matter I'll take my time. We had long reh again on saturday. That's allways fun... Can't wait the next weekend. Ofcourse reh started well again.. Jani had to cancel cause he got a call that said he has to be working now! He has forgot it. Hahahaaa!! So I went to get the key from him... We cranked the lock for half an hour just to notice that he cave us the wrong one. Luckily he managed to bring the right key to us. After few warm up tunes it was time to open bottles and start to play new tune. It's allways shitty when you start to learn what to do and how to play something. But after a while it might even sound somekind of music. Jarno took guitar and luckily Antony's bro Aki was there so he took the drums. Aki is a great drummer so he learnt fast the song we're playing in so we could jam and test all ideas we wanted. With this setup we had a blast that lasted late to the night! Eventually we had to call off because we couldn't play anymore... buahahahaa! Some of us and our entourage decided to go to the local bar after reh but I was wise and went straight to bed. And about the song, it's quite fast one and sounds really killer! That tells a lot about it to you.. hahaa!

27 years ago I saw this world for the first time. It was really hard time because I was born too early and I was blue and my umbilical cord was 2 times around my neck. That is the reason why I am little bit stupid and slow. So I think I've earned this sauna session this night.
In 2 weeks starts this Christmas tour again... I will make 8 gigs all over Finland. I really love this project and I think it makes good for my mind and for my soul - NOT for my physics but It's always great to get on a stage and life in that moment.

Just wanted to tell you that our reh place isn't cold anymore. Somebody has turned the heat on! Still.. it isn't too warm but now you can play without freezing your ass which is nice. Yesterday evening we had rehearsals and I just couln't believe that t-shirt would be enough. No pants ofcourse. One thing I'm scared of though... The water that comes from the tap is yellow! I don't know what the hell is it. Looks like something that comes from your body. Goddamn, maybe I should try it if it tastes good... NOT! We have new songs coming up all the time but more on that later. Tonite some guitar tech help for Rogue Angel and tomorrow I head Tampere to see Slipknot, Children Of Bodom and Machine Head. We'll see what happens there!

What a Halloween Party! It was awesome. Thanks to my Bro and his girlfriend! They organized the whole thing. And the place was really amazing - few hundred years old farmhouse in our hometown- and yes, we were drunk - like you can see from the pics. If Jarno won't make career as a musician he could try this callgirl thing. He could be a hit in our local bar. I tried to play Jesus, but now I think I looked more like an "OilKing" from Middle East, but who cares - we had fun. But anyway, from the thing to an orange, or how you say it in Swedish - we have really exciting moment right now in the band things - I'll let you know more later.....or not. Kulli.

Ugh. What a weekend. Happened so much this time. On friday we had reheasals. We palyed some hours but couldn't come up with anything special. Sometimes it may be this way too... And it was difficult to test new songs cause Antony had to take his massive PA system away to a secret location. Jani did suffer that night little bit. When he was going home at night he noticed his keys were missing so he had to return back to rehearsal place. Luckily it was quite cold and rainy night and he had to walk some 3 kilometers. The keys weren't at the rehearsal place so he had no choise but to try sleep there. Luckily his clothes were wet and the temperature inside very cold. A bottle of wine and guitar didn't warm up him at all. What a lovely night. I don't envy him. Saturday we had a blast. We headed to a secret location to free ourselves. We wanted to be the persons who we really are without any ristrictions. And so we did. Few pics of that will come here shortly. Eero wasn't with us. I think he didn't want to come because we had good food and alcohol drinks... and Eero doesn't eat food or drink alcohol. Same time we had a serious party among lots of friends. I think I went to sleep sometimes 7.30 am. And no bars at all! First time in my live I really enjoed singing karaoke.. Maybe because of normally people sing them at the local bar where hillbilly jerks are raising hell. I hate that kind of places. And I'm not a good singer. But this time it didn't matter.. naturally!

Hey again. What a headache. Damn. Now the first demo is ready. Sounds great! I was so afraid how it will turn up but as I said the true miracle of studio magic made it happen. Yesterday we were mixing it and Antony was singing his parts at Studio Audio. Torsti from Studio Audio decided that maybe few BEERS would be cool... So we went and the rest is history! Thanks to him!!! More story will come later. Today we have rehearsals at Suolahti.. which is nice!

Yo. Having great time here now! Recorded guitars for the first demo songs. We were hanging at my place with Antony and Jarno yesterday and recorded and tested all kinds of things for the new songs. Now I need to put some bass on tape at my home "studio". Antony will sing his parts in a real studio this week and then we'll mix together. Basic plan.. Hopefully the guitars will sound good because my Line 6 is broken and I had to use shitty V-amp 2 for it... And I can't bring my Mesa stack to my flat -> too loud!! I trust the miracle of studio and the guy behind the desk! And ofcourse Pro Tools.. I visited our rehearsal place yesterday, our only battery was turned off and it was almost freezing there.. So now the poltegreist I mentioned earlier is starting to do it's job, great! Hahahaa.. Good for the equipment. I don't know if that goes on how we can survive the winter. I have to suggest to the other guys that maybe we should move somwhere warm country to write the rest of the songs! In other way maybe we can have more aggressive feeling to the songs when you have to jump all across the room if you want to stay warm. No pics from this weekend... Jarno had so horrible hangover so I couldn't had any pictures of him.. He was shaking so much that my camera took only blurry pics. Just kidding! ..or not!

Hello hello! This is Eero and diary of madness and illusions! Iam fine and band feels great! We are going to make demo for few of our new songs and send it to our management. If they say it is too soft stuff, they can burn in fire of Lieksa! Riffs after guitar harmonies after riffs after awesome melodies! Oh shit! I have to buy some old Toyota Carina with CD player and drive all over the city with opened windows and shoot the demo really loud and get ticket from police from ”interrupting the citizens” or something! Before the Carina I can olnly listen it Loud in home and get just warning from neighbours.

I had awesome Friday. Hopefully Saturday will be even better. At least I have to wash my toilet and maybe I will try some freeroll at the online poker after I eat my dinner, noodles. It´s going to be best Saturday in my life time. And Saturday is the day of lottery. Or every day in my life is lottery but official lottery day in Finland. If I get 5 million euros I would buy that Toyota with several gallons of diesel and new strings, for both of my basses and also long sleeve underwears. Rest of the money i would send for poor ppl in Canada, so they can buy new icehockey sticks and few pucks for they kids. Say hello to Mamba if you see them!

Ahoy there!

I hate mondays.. again. Weekend went sooo fast.. again. Anyway, we had long rehearsals on saturday which was nice. Grabbed few beers and played loud from dusk til' dawn! This time we checked one new song . We lost hour or two just trying to come up with different ideas here and there until we noticed the best version is the original... Frustrating in a way but other way it's necessary to know which thing works best. You get bored to try different things on the songs but if you have a beer or two the time just flies and you have the energy to do it. Inspiration in a way. Next thing we're gonna do is a demo on few songs. Hopefully they sound as good on tape as rehearsals. I strongly believe so!

14.10.2008 - Peace of Mind at the Lake

Fishing, drinking and sauna - sounds like heaven to me. I rented a luxury cottage last weekend and I had time to think about the future. Finally I realised it's hazy and I drank more. It's weird how mind rests at the lake - sitting in a boat - fishing pole in the hand and a cold drink in another - that's life - Who need bars? It's my way to rest, or I taste German whitewine at home in my underpants. Anyway, that's all I wanted to say. Oh YES, I almost forgot - Jarno is in Egypt (lucky bastard)- has he seen the fucking pyramids? Yes -------------------------> in postcards.

Hello to all! How are you? I´m fine here in my home. I had theater rehearlsals today. Did I say i´m directing a theater play here in Jyväskylä?? Okay then! Well now you know :)... and tomorrow we have also rehearsals on theater play. The name of a play is ”Stand Up, Jesus” and it´s story about life of Jesus but pure comedy version. Not against christianity but with brilliant and absolutely funny dialog! I promise it will be great when the opening night is here. Opening night is in february so you have to still wait some months. But I will give you a more information about this..

How about the band? We have had a little break here from practises because Jarno is getting suntan and loading riffbatteries in Egypt like J-V told here. Maybe he get some great ideas there and remember not to get burned. It´s too dangerous you see. Or how do I know coz last time when I saw a sun was last january in Teneriffe. Well yes.. Anyway.. Sometimes these small breaks could help to find out the right things. At this case it is finding a great melodies and riffs. But soon we will get together and bring a ”new wave of Suolahti heavy metal” to a new level!!

Oh yes, and my weekend! There is so many stories on my weekends that you wont have guts to read this diary anymore and I know it´s nothing that you are imagine there right now... Okay I tell you! I was watching ice hockey game and floorball game!! Yes I was!! And my teams won!! And also I´m still single! And it seems it lasts!! But don´t worry. I´m not dying here ;)....

Uh! It´s a night time and I´m still wake up to write to you. Well actually I was playing online poker and listening newest Megadeth album "United Abominations". I think it´s a fucking great record! As you saw we are making new diary here. Just brilliant stories about life and our rehearsals. New songs sounds awesome. Not like Mamba or Popeda (all respect to bass players of those bands), but just diamond! Jarno ”the King of the Riffs and Cider” have so much ideas for the new record that you dont need to worry about. I just need to listening the guys and wondering how great the music can be. I know I´ll need like 750 playing hours for some of those riffs. Not that coz they are hard riffs but coz bass player is not genius ;).
Night of Jyväskylä is windy and tomorrow is a new day of hope. Ich möchte eine gigaret und guten nacht!

Our rehearsal place is cold. - There is allmost as cold as outside and this time of the year Finland starts to get quite cold. Can't wait for the winter. Our rehearsal place is haunted - It's an old mental hospital, you can feel something is not right there. Which is cool! But best of all - Our rehearsal place is our own! It may not be the best one but I don't care, you can choose whenewer you want to go there and play, day and night. There aren't any limits. Actually I think I could move there. It's just too cold and some poltegreist may try to kill me during the night. But it doesn't matter.. I'll kick it's ass! The place needs still some fixing but it's starts to look really nice bit by bit. Ofcourse we need a fridge for our beers and Antony's ciders & peetlehems. That would be great! If you have a fridge for us let me now! This weekend was insane. Saturday we played like we were haunted, something 7 hours straight. We just could not stop! The new song we played felt so right! It's gonna be a blast to play it live!!! I'm 100% sure of that. We just had to play it again and again, doing some minor fixes here and there until we were satisfied with it. Now it feels like it's almost ready :)
